Accessing secure web-pages in Java – from behind a proxy

Timeouts when connecting to https:// pages

One potential source of the issue, would be that the proxy for your app is not set correctly. From within your Java app – you may need to set two elements for the proxy – one for regular(http) and another for secure(https) pages.

System.setProperty("http.proxyHost", "web-proxy.adventures.example.com");
System.setProperty("http.proxyPort", "8765");

System.setProperty(“https.proxyHost”, “web-proxy.adventures.example.com”);
System.setProperty(“https.proxyPort”, “8766”);
